Weekend Recap

What a weekend! I am exhausted but just because I had so much fun. Friday night I went to the Bruce Springsteen concert in Hershey, PA. That is about two hours from my house. A friend drove and we left about 3:30 pm. I didn't get home until 3 am! I don't remember the last time I stayed up or out that late. It was a great time but wow, I am getting too old for the "party" lifestyle. The baby seemed to like Bruce though, she was kicking away throughout the concert. We seemed to be sitting in the pregnant lady section. There was a woman behind me who was pregnant and a woman sitting in front of me.

The best part of the concert was when Bruce picked a sign out of the crowd. It said "If you play Twist and Shout, I will burn my Hannah Montana cd's!" He played twist and shout and made the fan promise to burn the cd's. Classic! He played for about three hours and I had a great time. I had seen him in 2002 when I lived in Denver. He puts on a great show.

Needless to say I was a little tired on Saturday. Around 10:30am Adam and I went to packet pick-up for the Columbia Triathlon on Sunday. It was nice to see a lot of our triathlete friends. We were even able to see Chrissie Wellington (two time Ironman World Champion). I tried not to stare at her but I was definitely star struck. She is an amazing athlete.

Later Saturday afternoon I had a massage. A girl from my yoga class is a masseuse and is getting her certification for prenatal massage and needed a guinea pig. I volunteered and it was awesome. Especially after being out until 3 am the night before. The rest of the day was spent taking Adam's bike to the transition area of the triathlon and then taking it easy. I think I was in bed at 8 pm.

This morning I was up at 5 am to serve as Adam's sherpa for the race. Adam was approaching this race as an expensive, fully supported training day. Technically his 26 week training program for Ironman Florida started last week so he just wanted to go out there and put in the miles (1.5k swim, 41k bike, 10k run). It wasn't the greatest day for a race (winding, raining, and on the chilly side) but we both enjoyed ourselves.

He was slower than last year but had a smart race. His legs didn't cramp on the run and he felt great during the race and even had a lot of energy this afternoon. Here are some pictures from this morning:

Entering the water. He was practically the last one from his wave into the water so that is why he is all alone. Everyone else was treading water waiting for the horn to go off. He was making me so nervous because he was taking his sweet time!

Adam is in the orange jacket. It had just started raining and rained for about 15-20 minutes. I was happy I was sitting this one out!

Adam starting the run. 6.2 miles left and he is done!

All smiles - happy to be done.

A picture of Chrissie Wellington. After she was done with her race she stood at the finish line handing out medals to all the age group triathletes. Very cool!
