Back in the Swing of Things

For the past few weeks I’ve had trouble doing anything other than getting myself to work and then coming home (and even that wasn’t easy). I really dislike the lack of daylight and I have very little motivation in the morning to leave my warm and cozy flannel sheets and down comforter.

But this week a group of us met Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 am to run. Tuesday there were four of us and we ran 4 miles and Thursday there were three of us and we ran 5.5 miles…in the rain. Peer pressure is such a great way to get me out of bed. Plus I felt so great Tuesday and Thursday knowing I had already done my workout for the day. If the weather cooperates this weekend I hope to run 8-10 miles on Sunday morning.

I am not sure what my 2009 season looks like for racing. I use the term racing loosely; I generally just participate in the events. There is a half-marathon in March that I have done for the past two years that I will probably do again this year. There is also the Lake Anna sprint triathlon that has been moved to May that I will probably do (registration does not open until January). There is also another half-marathon in May that I hope to do. I didn’t sign up for any of the big races that I have done in the past because I want to do more local smaller races. So with those races to motivate me and the Tuesday/Thursday morning runs I may be able to survive this winter.
