Bullfrogs

Charlie had her first day of swim team practice on Saturday.  She was so excited that when she woke up she screamed, "It's my first day of swim team practice!"  She also asked to wear her swim cap at the breakfast table.  Right before we walked out the door she asked me to bring my swimming suit too because she "might be a little afraid" and wanted me to swim with her.  I took my suit but knew I wouldn't need it.

The swim team is the Watermont Bullfrogs.  The swim team lasts for about six weeks during the summer.  Adam coached at the pool last year and we thought it would be fun if she was on the team this year. Even though she is on the team it doesn't mean she has to compete.  Basically we are looking at this experience as a group swim lesson each morning.  If she does compete in one of the five swim meets, there will be a junior coach in the pool with her.  She would only be swimming one length of the pool (25 yards).

Here are a few pictures from her first day:

Adam helping her with her goggles

Getting in the pool with the rest of the kids

Practicing leg kicks

More leg kicks but it almost looks like she is doing the breaststroke.

At the end of swim practice.

Her practice is from 8-9 each morning.  On the first day they swam for about 45-50 minutes because a lot of kids were getting cold.  Charlie was not one of them but she did say she was cold once she got out of the water.  Half way through the practice she got out of the pool and came over to Adam and me and asked, "How am I doing?"  We told her she was doing awesome and she jumped back in the pool.  On the way home she said that she loved swim team and she loved all the drills they did.

Tonight at dinner she leaned over and whispered something in Griffin's ear.  I asked her was she said and she said, "I just told him that I am going to do good at swim team practice tomorrow."
