This morning I took part in an event called "She Got Bike". This was a supported bike ride for women at Oregon Ridge Park in Baltimore County. It was a great event to get women out biking. There were a couple options for bike routes: 14 miles, 25 miles, 46 miles, and 62 miles. I originally thought I wanted to do the 62 mile course but was so happy I chose the 46 mile course. It was so beautiful, but also so hilly! The hills just kept going up and up. Just when I would get to the top of a hill I would look up and see another hill just waiting for me!
The morning was chilly (46 degrees) but it turned into a beautiful day and by the end I was quite warm. The course was through rural farm areas and was absolutely gorgeous with the colors just starting to change. At one point I stopped to watch a farmer feed about a hundred chickens. They were in a big field and were following him around because he had the food. The farmer was so cute. As he was walking through the chickens trying to get to the trough he would say, “Excuse me ladies.” I tried to take some pictures with my cell phone but they didn’t come out very well. I loved the ride but was happy to be done. In June all I have to do is that bike ride, plus an additional 12 miles, and then run a half marathon (oh yea, and the swim). Man, do I have some training to do!
It is events like this that make me thankful to live where I live. I find it amazing to find such beauty only 30 minutes from downtown Baltimore.
