Out of the Mouth of Babes

  • Charlie was sad because Adam asked her to flush the toilet after she used it and she didn't want to. Her response, "My heart is sinking like a stone."
  • "But Dad, how do I drop my attitude?"
  • This afternoon I asked Charlie if she wanted to FaceTime with Papa and Mimi. This was her response: "Well, if you give me playdough to play with then I won't wiggle (as she shakes her bootie), but if you don't give me playdough then I am going to wiggle when I FaceTime. It is your chance (I think she meant to say choice)."
  • Adam was snuggling with Charlie one night before bed. "Dad, has it been 5 minutes yet?" "Yes, Charlie it has been 5 minutes." "Ugggh! It felt like forever! You can go now."
  • "I want what I want and I don't want what I don't want."
  • "Dad, I can't see the TV. Your big bum is in the way!"
  • "Mom, you make my heart so happy." Charlie randomly said this while we were grocery shopping.
  • Charlie's preschool class had a Christmas party and Santa Claus showed up. Charlie was very shy and didn't want to get very close to him. I asked her if she wanted to sit on Santa's lap and she shook her head no. I then told her she needed to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas. She said, "That's okay. I have enough toys."
  • As I was putting Charlie to bed tonight, she said, "Mama, I have a good idea. How 'bout I sleep in your bed tonight." I told her she could fall asleep in our bed but she would have to go to her own bed when we went to bed. As Adam carried her back to her bed a few hours later, half asleep, she said, "But what about my good idea?"
  • As Charlie sat down to pee it took her a couple seconds to actually start peeing. Once she started she said, “Hi pee! We’ve been waiting for you!”
  • One night Charlie was literally moaning and groaning all through dinner. After 5-10 minutes I finally asked her why she was being so loud. She said, "Because I want all of your attention."
  • "I'm going to go scare the pee right out of Daddy!"
