Wedding Registry

For the most part the majority of the wedding planning is complete. There are few odds and ends left. Oh, and Adam needs to pick out some clothes to wear and neither one of us have rings. Just a few minor things left to do:)

One of the things on our list to accomplish was registering. I have been amazed at how many people have asked us about our registry. It seems silly but of all the wedding planning this has been the biggest point of contention between Adam and I. I did not want to register for anything at all. I thought it would be great if we asked people to donate to their favorite charity, give to their local food bank, buy some school supplies for a child who doesn't have any, etc and then send us a quick note stating what they did with the money. I thought it would be great if we made an album with all the altruistic things our friends and family did. I was surprised at how many people poo-poo'd the idea.

Adam wanted to register but didn't want kitchen stuff. Being new to wedding registries I was not sure what there was besides kitchen stuff. While we both want to get into mountain biking we didn't think it would be appropriate to register for that! So Adam and I sat down and decided what kitchen stuff we actually need. We decided up pots, knives, and silverware. Surprisingly, these are all things Adam came into the relationship with. I think I only had two knives, a handful of silverware, and three green pots my mom received when she got married. Adam's stuff was nicer than mine but after 5 years of college, storage for a couple years and then two years with us we both decided it was time to replace it.

We registered for these types of items at Macy's. While we were there we found some purple Fiesta Ware plates on the clearance table. They match what we currently have and were such a great deal. I know you are supposed to register for those types of items but I just couldn't pass up the deal.

We also found this cool website called Honeymoon Wishes which allows us to register for part of our honeymoon. We both think this is such a cool idea. We have always tried to buy experiences as opposed to possessions and this fits that idea perfectly. While I am looking forward to my wedding I am more excited about the marriage and all the great experiences we will be able to share together. This just seems like the perfect way to start off our marriage.
